At Flushdyke, we believe that learning should extend far beyond the four walls of the classroom. Our carefully and deliberately planned School Visits Offer supports each child’s personal development by providing wonderfully rich experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and deepen understanding—from history and heritage, to faith, adventure and the awe and wonder of the natural world.
Learning outside the classroom is not just an add-on — it is a vital part of our children's education. As the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom states, taking learning beyond the classroom “opens their eyes to the world around them, enhances academic attainment and personal development, and supports health, well-being, and spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs.”
These experiences help children to:
Connect learning with real life and personal experience
Develop resilience, teamwork and independence
Build confidence and communication skills
Strengthen wellbeing through engagement with nature and the wider world

Our offer is designed to be progressive. As pupils move through the school, their visits grow in scope and challenge, enriching their learning in age-appropriate and memorable ways.
We are delighted to introduce a brand-new overnight residential experience in Lower Key Stage 2 — an exciting bridge between our Key Stage 1 visits and our Upper Key Stage 2 Robinwood residential. This new residential offers opportunities for independence, teamwork and self-discovery in a supportive and age-appropriate setting.
Together, these experiences create a seamless journey that complement our Outdoor Learning Curriculum. By intertwining enriching visits and purposeful outdoor learning opportunities, we strive to ensure that every child develops into a well-rounded, confident and curious young person.
All visits, including residentials, are fully inclusive if risks/behaviours can be managed safely.
Our School Visits Offer works hand-in-hand with our Outdoor Learning Curriculum. Our visits all build on classroom learning in real and meaningful contexts. This integrated approach ensures that children not only acquire knowledge, but also grow socially and emotionally through shared experiences, challenges and reflection.
By nurturing curiosity and resilience through a rich tapestry of learning beyond the classroom, we strive to inspire lifelong learners who are ready to explore, question and contribute positively to the world around them.
