Meet our Eco Committee

Meet our Eco Committee for 2023-2024:

The Eco Committee are currently working towards the Eco Schools Green Flag Award for 2023-2024.

Highlights from 2022-2023:

The Energy Saving Team taking part in the Wakefield Schools Climate Change Relay.

Our Energy Saving Team has set out on their first mission!

In our first meeting, we discussed rising energy costs both at home and at school. The team agreed that it was important that we look for ways to save energy around school. One at a time, children shared their ideas - they came up with some brilliant suggestions and, so, the team's first mission was set:

Mission 1 - Reduce energy use in classrooms at key points during the school day, such as: at playtime, during assembly time, over lunchtime, during swimming time, during computing time and on PE days.

How will we complete the mission? The team have made a pledge to be responsible for switching off lights, turning off the Interactive Whiteboard, making sure the classroom door is closed, turning off radiators when it is warm and closing windows when it is cooler. Over the next few weeks, the team will monitor how much energy they have saved. Good luck Energy Savers!
