At Flushdyke, our aim is for children to be able to access high quality computing lessons through our carefully designed curriculum. Children will be able to develop confidence in using a wide range of technology which will allow them to better understand our forever changing world.

Our curriculum is deliberately designed to enable our pupils to understand the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science. We equip our children with key skills within core programs and apps such as Microsoft Office, so that they can create professional and purposeful content.

Pupils will be given new or unfamiliar technologies whereby they will have to evaluate and apply previous information in order to successfully solve problems.

We will ensure that children can analyse problems, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems. Children will have the opportunity to read around the topic of technology and how this impacts their own lives today.

A goal for us at Flushdyke, is that children leave with the technological expertise which enable them to become responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication which is needed as children progress throughout life. All of the skills we teach are transferable to secondary school and beyond.
