School Development Plan 2026-2027
Every school year, senior leaders at school produce a school development plan that helps prioritise areas for improvement.
For this year, we've got four big priorities. Here's what they mean in plain English:
1. Making our brilliant curriculum even stronger.
We've got some really strong curriculum work in subjects like Geography and History. Now we're bringing that same clarity to everything else. So every teacher knows the small steps of learning, how it builds year on year, and so every child can see how their learning connects - right from Early Years into Year 1 and all the way through to Year 6.
2. Supercharging our Early Years outdoors.
Our youngest children learn best when they're moving, exploring and doing. So we're giving our outdoor space a proper re-think. We've audited what we've got, we're learning from brilliant practice at other schools like South Parade, fixing and freshening up what we have, and creating new zoned areas for child-led play. The aim is simple: an outdoor classroom that supports every part of early learning.
3. Getting it right for every child with SEND.
This is personal for us. We're making sure every member of staff has the training and the tools to support children with additional needs - with really clear, small-step targets that actually mean something. Not vague aims, but practical support like visual checklists, now-and-next boards, and personalised scaffolds so every child can access the full curriculum and make progress they can be proud of.
4. Better teaching, by thinking out loud.
We're working on how we teach, not just what we teach. It's about modelling - our teachers showing children how to think, not just what to do. You'll hear more "here's why I'm making this choice" in lessons, and more children able to say "here's how I worked it out". It normalises making mistakes, lowers anxiety, and helps children see the steps behind a great piece of work.
We'll check ourselves each term - in Autumn, Spring and Summer - to make sure it's making a real difference where it counts: in the classroom, outdoors, and in your child's confidence.
As always, thanks for your support. This is a team effort - staff, children, families, together.
