Online Safety Support
Online Safety
It can be hard to know how to talk to your child about online safety. From setting up parental controls to guidance on age requirements for sites such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, we can guide you to the right support and resources which will help you to understand the risks and keep your child safe.

- WF-I-CanAn online resource for children and young people in Wakefield to find information and advice, plus self-help tips.
As part of our commitment to online safety, we would like to remind parents, carers and pupils that most social media platforms have a minimum age requirement.
In accordance with their terms and conditions, users must be aged 13 or over to create an account on platforms including Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). Other platforms have similar restrictions.
We ask parents and carers to support us by ensuring children do not access social media platforms before the permitted age, and by monitoring their online activity.
Guidance on age-appropriate use can be found at the official sites for Facebook and X.
