Safeguarding

"There is a culture of vigilance in the school. There are clear and well-understood systems for reporting safeguarding concerns. Clear and robust recording of incidents means that leaders can take appropriate further action when necessary. Pupils are taught to keep themselves safe." Ofsted, October 2022

At Flushdyke, we are committed to safeguarding all children.

We safeguard children by…

  • creating safe environments for children and young people through robust safeguarding practices
  • ensuring that adults who work in the school, including volunteers, don't pose a risk to children
  • making sure staff are trained, know how to respond to concerns and keep-up-to-date with policy and practice
  • teaching children and young people about staying safe
  • maintaining an environment where children feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have a worry/problem.

Sexual Harassment

The Underwear Rule

Simple conversations really can help keep your child safe, and that’s what we will help you do. We want to help parents and carers talk to their children about staying safe. The Underwear Rule is just one way that – together – we can prevent child abuse.

We teach our pupils the NSPCC’s Underwear Rule using the ‘PANTS’ acrostic.
PANTS stands for:

  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help
